Hosted by THC: JohnCow.com
Yes, you read that right: the famous John Cow dot Com changed its host and is now hosted on a dedicated server from THC. Is the client happy with the change? Of course he is, but don’t take our word for it – go read the review at JohnCow.com.
As you already know, we feature our client’s blogs each time we have the chance, in an effort to promote their work and to give back a little feedback and/or kudos for all their support and good efforts. There are so many great blogs on the THC servers, and some – like John Cow – are very high profile. This site is at its best honest and straightforward, if not for every taste. The John Cow site is everything commercial and the editor makes no bones about it.

John Cow is obviously designed to be a poke at John Chow, and the blog does a great job of being everything the other is not. Aside from some killer site graphics (the barnyard of course) and an overall exquisitely designed site, the blog feartures some fantastic content as well. The commercialization aspect detracts only slightly from the overall tone of site content, as it is fairly apparent that the editor knows what he writes about and attempts to provide infromative, and yes commercialized content – which is in the end excellent. Isn’t this more honest that subdued commercializations and monetizations. I for one like knowing what-is-what up front and in the face the way this is presented.
As much as anything, any succesful blog is about the community around it. Yeah I know, everything has to have a community these days, but the simple truth is that successful sites are about people. John Cow has a dedicated readership that continues to visit and read for one reason – good, informative content. Face it, every site in the world that last long is monetized in some way. I don’t particularly like 100 ads on sites that I frequent, but as long as the content is there – then I suppose this is a subjective matter.
This blog is one in a million that can successfully pull off massive ads in conjunction with good content. All in all, this is an even trade off in my book. We are so pleased to have the great blog’s home on THC and we know there is much more great content on the way. John Cow – we might call it the true face of ad supported content on the Web.
