5 Quick Steps to Effective Blog Writing

Written by admin at 1:13 pm under Blogging, Featured

Blogger. The long and fruitful reign of content when it comes to blog or website success is well known to anyone who’s read at least one article on how to get your own page to stand out from the crowd. As the consensus is that great content is crucial, it’s high time we sat down and created a list of how to effectively write such blog entries that immediately make your readers want to comment and link back.

The first thing one should do is actually have something interesting to say, be it latest news, something extremely funny, controversial issues, a new and fresh perspective on a hot topic, or a niche topic no one knows much about when they should really be informed. Something worthwhile to center your blog around should really be dealt with before starting the actual blog. I always choose to point out the obvious as we are busy creatures tending to overlook the simple things, regardless of their importance.

1. Find your own rhythm – I find more of us should think of our writing rhythm more thoroughly. Although there are bloggers who don’t post everyday and still are very successful and get massive traffic to each new post, a lot of bloggers are driven by the pressure of those A-class bloggers publishing something new at least once a day.

If we hold content quality as being so valuable, quantity should really be less interesting. Yes, a routine is needed, but there isn’t one all mighty success-guaranteeing option of posting everyday, 7 days a week preferably. Posting at least 2 times a week is an equally valid choice.

2. Find your own sources of inspiration – waiting for the muse to come is one way. But I believe searching for her is a lot better. Inspirations sources are extremely different: some need to read a lot, from blogs to books and magazines; some need to go outside walking, dancing or seeing their friends; some need photography; some need their music. Whatever it is that awakens the writing genius inside of you, find it and make use of it each time you hit the bottom of your barrel of inspiration. If there are more magical items you have hidden in your backpack, make a list, they might not function all the time and it helps to have clear options.

3. There is always room for new phrases – They say you should never use in writing words you wouldn’t use in conversation. So what can you do to stay away of complicated and boring written language terms? You can find the little treasures other pop into the conversation. Try your funny friends and acquaintances, try movies with witty dialogues and learn to identify the colloquial turns and twists others put in their writing.

4. Keep up with everything new – Not being limited to one area of interest can lead to greatly extended resources for blog writing. Most fields are interlinked, for example design is closely linked to new technological tools, with art trends (from photography and architecture to theatre and movies) and world news. Don’t think you have to know everything about all that\s going on in the world, but major events and breakthroughs should not be strangers to you. Being able to make connections between situations or people that are not obviously related is what can really set you apart from others.

5. Don’t go trying to reinvent the wheel – Yes, we all need our very own style, our uniqueness. But that in no way means we should dismiss what others are already doing with impressive results. Others’ work is a major source of inspiration, there is no shame in learning from the best. And besides, when it comes to writing, there’s hardly anything left that hasn’t been tried out ever since ancient times. Don’t copy, but borrow and adapt to your own style.

I am sure many of you have already given much thought to how they can improve their writing. Certainly there is no end to “good advice” out there for the would-be A lister. Sometimes however, it is a good idea to keep things simple and to work from basic principles until you have formed your own style, tone and a niche of interest. Please give us your ideas and feedback to, as writing is a never ending form of art. We want to hear you as much as we want to inform.

  9. This is great advice and the subject line is very important indeed – can make all the difference in my opinion.  We have had some great results from more “intriguing” subject lines!.  A great campaign should of course combine the best in both design and copy writing and agree that the second element nearly always gets overlooked.  Good copy can also help improve your chances of running the gauntlet of spam filters – always check copy for “watch” words that may leave e-marketing campaigns foul of firewalls and filters.
