Cloud Shared Hosting versus Traditional Shared Web Hosting

Many people have asked us if there is a significant difference between our new Cloud Shared Hosting plan and the traditional web hosting plans offered by our competitors. We were also asked if Cloud Shared is better than the previous shared hosting plans that we’ve offered – Speedy and Rudolf hosting plan, to name a few. Well, the answers are a resounding “Yes.”

Cloud Hosting Has Something for You

Traditional shared web hosting plans run in an architecture where a server crash – regardless whether it’s caused by hardware failure or software bug – can cause all websites in a shared server to go offline and halt all web operations.

The scenario is quite different when it comes to cloud shared hosting. A single point of server failure cannot cause any website in a shared cloud hosting to fail.

In a cloud hosting, there’s a network of servers working together as a single, virtual infrastructure dynamically reserving a pool of resources – CPU, RAM, disk space and bandwidth – and provisioning them to hosting accounts that demands them.

The amount of resources in a cloud hosting is relative to the number of servers joining the cloud network. A cloud network is highly scalable as the infrastructure itself – it can have hundreds of physical servers located from around the world. A cloud therefore can have virtually unlimited hosting resources that the customers can enjoy whenever they need to extend their default hosting specification. This unique feature certainly breaks the fixed resource limits of traditional shared web hosting.

Existing Shared Customers: Why Upgrade?

Besides the fact that the Cloud Shared Hosting takes advantage of cloud computing, it also distinguishes itself from other previous shared hosting by offering greater benefits, free services like website transfer and web application installation, and extended hosting functionality.

Unlike Rudolf and Speedy hosting plans, Cloud Shared Hosting plans are much more inexpensive. For starters, one can experience the benefits of cloud hosting with the THC Special plan, which only costs $4.95 per month. Most of the Cloud Shared Hosting plans also offer SSH access with no additional cost. SSH is a useful functionality that advanced web developers use and it is also something our previous plans lacked in their default specs.

Cloud Shared Hosting plans also feature R1Soft Data Protection service that ensures security and reliability of your website data. They also include a free domain name registration (or domain transfer), and dedicated IP address if you sign up for at least 12 months.

If you’re an existing customer who owns an older hosting plan, you can easily switch to cloud hosting by selecting your desired plan. You may also want to check out our Cloud Storage to extend your hosting space.

We recommend that you contact our customer support department if you have questions of Top Hosting Center cloud products. We’re very excited to see how you will use our cloud hosting for your business competitive advantage.

Top Hosting Center on the Upcoming Apple iPad

Written by John Raul Joven II under Featured

Apple iPad

Apple iPad

Apple has a good reputation of being a key innovator in computer technologies. And many thought it did so again when it announced iPad last January 27, 2010. The iPad is a tablet computer designed to create a new device category between a smartphone and a laptop computer.

While the upcoming device has generated a lot of buzz, many industry experts wonder its limited functionality and are skeptic if aesthetics this time can deliver success for Apple’s newest gadget device with the competitor’s devices looming in the horizon. One of them, called Slate from HP, has already been announced and will directly challenge iPad when it’s released.

“Like a Large iPod Touch”

Geeks and gadget enthusiasts were unified in their opinion towards iPad: they say the device is like an iPod Touch with a large screen. Others call it a “giant iPhone” although it can’t be one since it lacks phone capabilities.

But true enough, on top of iPad’s 1 GHz Apple CPU will run an iPhone OS 3.2 operating system, endowing all the software capabilities and user interface candy of iPhone and iPod Touch devices.  Users will be able to view photos and videos better with its larger screen; they can also browse the Web, do emails, use GPS, listen to music, run games and download classic applications from Apple’s App Store. Apple also noted that there will be applications unique for iPad such as the book shelf application they developed that is tailored for e-book readers.

The iPad’s Achilles Heel

The iPad is absolutely not a holy grail despite its bells and whistles.

Its few shortcomings such as the lack of phone capabilities and in-built camera would have been great for Skype calling. The iPad’s ancient 4:3 screen aspect ratio has turned off some, much more when it lacks HDMI output, a feature quite common with digital cameras these days. The iPad also will not be able to support sites that run the popular Adobe Flash technology.

Complaints about Apple’s usage of iPhone OS platform on iPad also resonated across tech blogs on the Web. Tech reviewers and bloggers opined that Mac OSX would push the envelope further for iPad and enables the tablet device to gain the full capabilities of a computer.

Top Hosting Center on a Tablet Computer

Here at Top Hosting Center, we are looking closely with the upcoming hardware devices, trends and events in the entire technology industry when they are likely to impact our customer’s lives.

As for the iPad, we’d love to see the Top Hosting Center website running on it. But we’re pretty much more excited to hear how the iPad device would let our customers’ manage their hosting and domains in a tablet computer. We’ll know that when the Apple iPad is released on April 3, 2010 so stay tuned!
